My First Card....Yay Me!!

My First Card....Yay Me!!

Well, I finally finished my first card...only took me about 5 days, lol! So per hour this would be one very pricy card....

I made this card using Jennifer McGuire Ink's  pop up card video tutorial. I will link to it here.

My work space...and boy did it get messy, lol! On my list...a shelf to get everything up and off my work area.

My work space...and boy did it get messy, lol! On my list...a shelf to get everything up and off my work area.

My crafty perfectionist invaded my head and just took over there for a moment(days)...and even though I trimmed it wrong, taped it crooked and damaged the card trying to fix it....I made my first card!!!! Yay Me!!!

I used My Favourite Things Stamps (MFT) and mini cube dye inks, and coloured the pigs and balloons with coloured pencils(and I was really happy with the results!!). I need to invest in some colouring markers...not sure what to buy at this point as they are all so expensive...I don't want to make a mistake and invest in the wrong ones...so for now I will keep using the pencils...maybe even try and find an art class to learn about shading.

I probably will never give this card to anyone, but it will always be my first to remind me that everything in life is a journey of exploring, learning and growing! I hope I will be able to look back on this card and see my own card making growth.
And here's to all future cards, here's to relaxing and enjoying all the learning curves and finding my own voice in making cards to share with the people in my life that I love and hold dear!!

I also realized as I was writing this post that I still need to make swatch cards of all my inks and keep a journal of the colours I use for the different cards I make. I'm thinking that information added here for reference would help in making future cards a lot quicker and easier...because I sure won't remember which inks and colours I used and what worked and didn't work.

Have a fun week!

Happy Crafting
